Lemon Tea Tree (Leptospermum petersonii) oil is chemically very different from the Tea Tree (Melaleuca alternifolia) oil. It has high contents of citral, citronellal and geraniol. This oil has significant anti-infectious qualities and is anti-fungal and anti-viral.
Unlike Melaleuca alternifolia, it is not advisable to put this oil directly onto your skin because of the high citral content. In other words, it needs to be diluted with a carrier oil, or in a cream. This being said, it is a safe, non-toxic oil.
