Argan oil…So what’s the big deal?…

The Argan oil is new to our carrier oil range. it is a cold pressed oil from Morocco and is called ‘liquid gold’ because it is more pricey than many other cold pressed oils.

The argan tree (argania spinosa)
The argan tree (argania spinosa)
There are good reasons why this is so. The Argan tree grows wild and cannot be easily cultivated. It is slow growing and lives up to 150 years. The oil is pressed by hand by the local women of the region, and is their source of income.

So, what is it good for? Why go to all that trouble?

Argan Oil, one of the rarest and most expensive oils in the world, contains numerous benefits as a miracle ingredient that not only protects and nourishes your skin, but reverses environmental damage, wrinkles and premature aging.

The active substances called triterpenoids in argan oil offer amazing skin protection benefits. Not only are they both anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial, but also promote tissue and scar repair and healing as well.

80% of argan oil is made up of unsaturated fatty acids that are extremely resistant to oxidation. It also contains a group of compounds called sterolins that improve skin metabolism, reduce inflammation, and promote excellent moisture retention.

The high concentration of vitamin E and tocopherols in argan oil help stop free radical damage to the skin, while helping to reduce wrinkles by restoring the skin’s hydro-lipid layer. Ailments such as chicken pox, acne, psoriasis, and eczema have all been improved by the oil’s topical application, which also helps to prevent and treat unwanted scars.

Not only does argan oil have amazing benefits for the skin, hair and nails, it also provides numerous nutritional benefits from consumption. Culinary argan oil- which is processed differently than cosmetic argan oil- can help lower cholesterol levels, aid in digestion, reduce inflammation, and even increase circulation to strengthen the body’s immune system. As a note, culinary argan oil and cosmetic argan oil are not interchangeable. Always choose cosmetic argan oil for skincare purposes.
