osteoporosis. ..known as the white woman’s disease…why? what can we do about it?

Hi friends, I am back from my lovely time away with my daughter.  Two weeks of exploring and experiencing and being thoroughly spoilt by Samantha.

On my last night there I tripped on the paving and stumbled /ran forward to prevent myself from falling. This wrenched my middle back quite badly. By the time I got back home to SA -over 36 hours of flying and waiting in various airports,  Igot home unable to walk.

I have been told it’s a compression fracture of L3 and more than likely caused by osteoporosis. “Who me?  Osteoporosis? Not possible! My bones are strong!”. Yes they said, me: I’m white, female and over 50. Well, talk about profiling!

Anyway, I’m still in hospital doing physio, trying to walk with lots of time on my hands to read up about osteoporosis and natural ways to strengthen myself.  This article by Dr Axe seems very sound and I will be adding far more weight bearing exercises to my daily routine.
